Palworld's Expansion Beyond PC and Xbox: PlayStation on the Horizon, Switch Unlikely Due to Technical Hurdles

Palworld developers are in conversations about potentially bringing the popular survival game to platforms such as PlayStation. However, a release on the Nintendo Switch seems unlikely due to technical constraints.

As Palworld gears up for its significant Sakurajima update, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has shared that the widely acclaimed survival game might become available on additional consoles like the PlayStation. Unfortunately, it appears that the game will likely never be released on the Nintendo Switch.

Currently, Palworld is accessible on just two platforms: PC and Xbox. With the game's most extensive update approaching, prospective players have been increasing their speculation regarding the possibility of Pocketpair's survival masterpiece being available on more platforms. After the game's global community manager posted a hint about a PlayStation port, interest in Palworld's availability on other consoles has intensified.

In an interview with Game File, studio head Takuro Mizobe explained that the team is still considering releasing the game on new platforms in the future. Although he did not confirm a PlayStation release, Mizobe addressed the situation with the Switch, explaining why the early access game likely won't be featured on Nintendo's handheld device. Regrettably, the hardware does not seem robust enough to support the game.

Mizobe highlighted that Palworld's minimum system requirements on the PC exceed the capabilities of the Switch. This difference makes it challenging to port the game to the Switch solely because of technical issues. While it is disappointing that Palworld might not make it to Nintendo's portable console, the game is currently playable on the Steam Deck, allowing players to enjoy it on the go.

Years before Palworld became a leading survival game, its CEO stored poker chips in part of the studio's office.
