Borderlands 4 PC Update Boosts Stability While Uncovering New Hurdles
Sep-18-2025

The recent update for Borderlands 4 has stirred both relief and new complications for players. The game was launched amid a flurry of performance issues, particularly affecting those on personal computers, even though the development team had warned that the title would be demanding.
After an uncertain debut, the developers have released an initial update exclusively for PC users in an effort to improve overall stability. The update is intended to enhance performance on a wide range of systems. However, any adjustments to graphics settings trigger a complete shader recompilation process that may take up to 15 minutes.
Console gamers are still waiting for a similar fix. There is currently no estimated time frame for when the update might arrive on PlayStation or Xbox systems, even though these platforms are also experiencing issues such as frequent crashes and intermittent stuttering.
Gearbox has offered support for Nvidia users by directing them to an official optimization guide that includes recommended settings and the latest version of the Game Ready Driver 581.29. In addition, feedback from various players includes a range of concerns, such as:
- Some continue to report unexpected shutdowns during play
- Many have noticed an increase in stuttering following the update
- A few have experienced problems with their previously saved character appearances
The studio has not yet provided additional comments regarding these emerging issues, but they have assured players that further updates will be forthcoming in An initiative aimed at tackling the continuously expanding list of concerns.
